4th Women's XC League Malvern Common 12.2.05
Race Report
The final race in this now improved
four race series proved to be a successful one for the Club. Splendidly six runners turned out on
the day, the course was quite hilly and very slippery in places it was also blowing a gale off the
Malvern hills and occasionally raining.
Becky Sanders,
had a cracking run again gaining four places on her last league race to lead the team home in 5th
place.
Cath Mijovic,
who does not love this course still managed to improve by six places and finish 17th. Also taking
2nd place in the vets competition.
Faye Manger,
can't wait for the track season to start but still has run every one of the series, she finished
19th and clinched 2nd place in the Junior competition.
Clare Grice,
returning to racing after a lay off with a stress fracture, overcame a sore throat and a week
off work to compete, then having to walk briefly due to turning an ankle on the uneven ground
finished 22nd.
Helena Trigg,
helped out between running 800m. last week at the NIA and running in the British Vets championships
at Cardiff next week and finished 30th.
Michell Tanner,
improving with every race held form well today to finish 37th.
This performance gave the Club a
fine 3rd place overall.
My thanks to all runners who took
part throughout the winter but a special mention must go to youngsters Becky and Faye and the not so
youngster Cath who proved to be the backbone of the Team's success.
