Birchfield Harriers is once again playing their part toward enforcing the National Squad in the forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing next month.
I have great pleasure on behalf of all club members and supporters in offering our sincerest congratulations to Kelly Southerton, Julie Holman, Tom Parsons, Dale Garland and Zoe Dereham in achieving selection for the highest level of competition within the sport of Athletics. To all of the support staff who have given their time and experience in helping those athletes to achieve their ambition I extend a hearty "Well done"!
Our link with AGA Rangemaster grows ever stronger. Representatives from your Committee having been worker extremely hard toward promoting greater Links with AGA and other companies to provide funding toward our aim of producing Olympians for the 2012 Olympics in London.
You should all be proud of and recognise the hard work that goes and is still going into such a large and ambitious project that if successful will reap many benefits for the Club and its members.
The ongoing successes of individual members of the club, both on and off the track, field and other disciplines is once again paramount, and the Club Teams are again showing their worth and determination to succeed at all levels from sportshall, through Young Athletes League, Junior League, Midland and National League Teams as well as the Masters Teams.
The successes of the summer are supporting the earlier success of the individuals and teams from the winter competitions. Road running, cross-country as well as Race Walking teams and individuals is all prominent when competing.
Within the club we have a strong body of volunteers who give great service and loyalty by what they contribute away from the track. This is equally as important and by having such caring stalwarts giving of their time and effort we indeed lead the way amongst our peers.
The club is now in a very strong position in all aspects of its work but there is always and must be room for continuous self-improvement and self-criticism for us to identify our weaknesses so that we can move forward as an organisation to achieve our business plan.
Thanks to each and every one of you that makes a positive contribution toward creating a happy, friendly and professional environment within the club.
