Grand Prix 2006 Race 5, The Northbrook 10k

This race took place on a lovely sunny morning on a mainly rural but “tough” course. This would explain the slight falling of performance levels with the exception of Gordon and Robin who both maintained and improved performance respectively. Gordon was second 60 year old to finish but no prize! The organisers obviously think no one much over 60 competes as everyone over 60 was lumped together thus Kenny’s performance of just over 60 minutes for a 76 year old wasn’t ranked.

Due to the clash with the Great Midland Fun Run at Sutton we lost at least 8 competitors who could have been at Coventry. However this meant higher scores for those who did run the permitted 10k race! 

A reminder that now we are halfway through the GP series with four different distances run I can now start to pick out the qualifiers for the competition. To qualify you have to run 4 races at different distances then your best 5 scores will count. Currently only four of you have qualified with two having done all 5 races. There are 11 of you who have done 3 races and you need to look at what’s left and decide what to run. 

In the GP overall (excluding qualifying rule) Gordon maintains first place with a lead of 96 points. Ken has moved up to 2^nd from 5^th and Barry drops down a place to 3^rd. John leaps up from 19^th to 11^th equal and Ann from 22^nd to equal 16^th. Lynette maintains 9^th overall and 1^st woman.
