BIRCHFIELD AGA RANGEMASTER ACADEMY

Do you want to improve your performance?

Do you want to train at a world class athletics facility with qualified coaches?

If the answer to any of these is yes then come and join the Birchfield Harriers AGA Academy.

The academy acts as the club’s induction group for new young members and provides young people with the opportunity to train at world class facilities with qualified coaches.  You must be at least 9 years old and we welcome parents to stop and watch what is on offer.

Sessions run on Saturdays from 10am (please arrive no later than 9.45am) till Noon and is run for a 10 week period following an initial induction day when new members are welcomed to the group.

Key information

Every current Academy attendee is required to submit a Birchfield membership fee of £25 for the year from April 1st 2009 to March 31st 2010.

From April 1st 2010 we will require all current members to renew, in order to retain their place on the register.

If this is not done names will be removed from the register at regular intervals, as we assume you no longer wish to continue with us. Contact details will be cleared to comply with the Data Protection Act

People will then have to wait until the next available induction before being able to re-register.

Membership fees should be submitted along with a passport photo (unless you already have Academy card) to either Ann or Andy at your next Academy session or by post to the Birchfield office.

If you are renewing then we just need the fee – you will be given a receipt.

YOU NEED TO COMPLETE AND GET PARENTAL SIGNATURE ON A FULL MEMBERSHIP FORM (available from office).

If you or your Family have any questions then please contact Andy/Ann, either at Academy or via email.

Other Stuff

Useful website for Parents and kids new to the sport – www.boja.org – this has lots of advice and thoughts and was set up by a parent looking for answers!!

www.powerof10.info – the site gives an outline of the performance levels that each age group and each event is looking for, both across the UK and in our region – West Midlands. Any questions – email Andy

Transfers to weeknight club sessions – we will look to move athletes only when we feel they can handle the step up to more regular training and a rise in the intensity of this. We will also only do this when there is a suitable group available for the child to move to.

Athletes should speak to their coach first when thinking about a move.

Looking for footwear – Sutton Runner (Boldmere) and Birmingham Runner (Shirley) both offer good deals and low prices on spikes for training/competing. Taking a club membership card may also get a discount.
