Disability Athletics

Birchfield is proud of the achievements of past and present athletes at the Paralympic Games and always welcome new disabled athletes to the club. The stadium is fully accessible and plays host to a wide range of Disability athletics events across the year.

Current members include Beijing Paralympians Mickey Bushell, who took Silver in the T53 100m, Katrina Hart and Kieron Murphy. All three athletes made their Paralympic debut in Beijing and will be targeting individual success at London 2012.

The club is seeking to build the profile of our Paralympians through the 12 for 12 campaign and wider sponsorship opportunities. In addition Birchfield is committed to supporting talented disabled athletes coming into the sport and strengthening the athlete pathway from school to international level competition.

Birchfield is looking to develop opportunities with UK Athletics through the Aviva Parallel Success programme, as it rolls out across the UK from September 2009. More information can be found at:
