Masters (Veterans) Road and Cross Country 2006
At the Club’s recent AGM, I had the privilege of being elected your Masters
(Veterans) Road & XC Team Manager for the next 12 months. I thank everyone there for his or her
support. At this point, I think I should say a big thank you to John Matthews for his work over the
last 6 or so years having to contend with the dwindling number of masters in the Club. Not always an
easy task to get teams out and competing.
I hope to be able to submit regular reports to the
website on our Masters (Veterans) activities on the road and cross-country, so, please keep coming
back to the site to get the latest information.
Can I urge and encourage all the masters out there
to join our local veteran organisation, the MVAC. This will enable us to be able to compete in more
events for masters and open up a new world of competition. Please go to www.mvac.org.uk
for more information.
Over the next months I hope to rally a few more masters together to compete
in team events. Any active masters out there please make yourself known. Remember, you become a
master at age 35 now, whether male or female and there are an ever increasing number of events for
M35’s. My aim is to enter a team in every age category in the BMAF National Open Road Relays on
our own patch at Sutton Park next May.
