MCAA Veterans 6 Stage Road Relays Sutton Park, 25th March 2006

I will let the results speak for themselves but I should comment that looking at the Age Grade Percentages it shows that we need to have athletes scoring 75%+ to figure in any competition. However this is a start and we all now know what needs to be done. The aim for all of us should be the National Masters Open Relays at Sutton on the 20th May. Please leave this date blank in your diaries.

New boy Derek on his debut was seconded to the senior team together with Gerry. Both performed well and didn’t disappoint, particularly Derek who ran a time many a senior would have been proud of.

The last minute change in the vet’s team sparked of a chain of events too complex to explain here that resulted in the Senior ‘B’ Team, which was for the overflow vets, not starting the race. Consultation with the Race Referee allowed our 4 vets concerned to start with the ‘mass’ start at 4.15 pm. Two of them found that waiting that long was too much and gave up. Perhaps in hindsight the team management should have entered only one senior team and allowed 3 vets teams, the cost would have been less and I would have less grey hairs!!
