MIDLAND WOMEN’S XC LEAGUE RACE 3 ALDRIDGE. SAT. 7TH JAN. 2006

What an afternoon, the  Car park was a mud heap, the Club house had been demolished, and it was snowing! My wife/ assistant, Pat, was ill so I had no one to keep check on my incompetence, scary.

Notwithstanding all that we had our best turn out and best result of the season so far.

Seven athletes braved the elements on a very exposed course with very limited visibility due to quite heavy snow falling at times.

Already on her second come back of the season Josie Grey set off aggressively as usual, and with fitness levels rising by the week, had a brilliant run to lead the team home in 11th place.

It must be the country air where she lives but Cath Mijovic had a superb run, beating at least one rival target runner by some distance. I think it helped that she was chasing her younger (they all are) team mate, she ran so quick at the end she over steered in the last corner and had to correct a skid! Second scorer 12th place.

Clare Grice, also making a comeback to racing after undergoing cosmetic surgery, couldn’t tell the difference  myself, and sporting a new hair do which got wrecked by the weather, had a fine run to close the scoring in 17th. Place

Many thanks also to Faye Manger, (I’m lost again) 32nd .

 Michelle Tanner, 77th.

Louise Harman (and Supporters Club) 80th.

Claire Beaumont (off virtually no training due to a bad back) 92nd

TEAM RESULT 3rd.
