MIDLAND WOMEN'S XC CHAMPS.
STAFFORD COMMON SAT 29 JAN. 2005
SENIOR WOMEN RACE REPORT
People, mainly old, go on about real xc courses.Stafford common is a large area of bog plus a large ditch full of glutinous mud which in terms of spectator amusement ranks way up there with the water jump in a steeplechase, there's very little good running. but you have to make the best off what you're given.
Amanda Wright, went for an early shower due to personal reasons,
Cath Mijovic, was then 1st scorer and ploughed through the mud in fine style given her dislike for uneven surfaces to finish 35th.
Rachel Cook also managed to keep reasonably upright and finished 49th.
Tabbi Sloper, conned into thinking it was not a muddy course, and on very little training finished 82nd.
Adele Wainwright, and Allie McLellan came to the teams rescue finishing 98th and 126th respectively, I just hope they don't think that all the courses are as muddy as here and Leamington.
Team Pos. 10th.
Junior Women.
Becky Sanders was Birchfield's only medal winner with a tremendous effort to finish 3rd making light of the conditions although she summed up the course by reiterating the fact that there was nowhere you could have a bit of a run!
