MIDLAND WOMENS XC LEAGUE 2005/2006 MATCH 1 SENNELEYS PARK 5TH NOV. 2004

RACE REPORT

This is always a popular venue because it’s a combined event encompassing all ages, sexes and divisions. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, we always seem to be thin on the ground. This year various marathons took four athletes, injuries to Becky Sanders and Emily Evans, illness to Amanda Wright another three.

Still the girls who ran gave full effort, Cath Mijovic, with a fine display of cross country running led the team home in 14th place with a time of 24:54. Josie Grey was considerably under par due to a heavy cold and loss of training with a leg injury, but still hung on despite wanting to pull out, she finished 15th in 25:01 . Faye Manger had probably her best run of the season so far, and completed the scoring in 33rd place and 26:22. New girl Louise Harman had an excellent debut at Senneleys finishing 92nd and 29:37. Michelle Tanner also ran well including a well timed sprint finish to gain a further three places and finish 98th 29:58. Finally wonderful Wendy Morant, winning the contest for stylish socks by a mile, came in 154th and 35:45.

In the Junior Race, track athletes Ledeen Greaves and Laura Allen made light of the mud to finish 15th . and 17th
Team result 5th.
