Grand Prix 2005

Race 10, The Rugby 10 Mile, 16th October

 Well, it’s arrived at last… the final report on the 2005 Grand Prix. It’s always disappointing when the actual support for this competition is a lot less than the potential support. Bearing in mind the enthusiasm and dedication shown by your road running sub-committee it’s a shame this is not shared by others. That said, I believe that the GP is worth organising and this year was no exception being the 18th since 1987. Correct me if I’m wrong! 

A significant change to next years Grand Prix will be that a qualifying number of races will be required to count, also we will be enforcing more strictly the rule that says members have to inform the road runners representatives of their entry. Please see the 2006 GP Rules either on the Club’s website or the Road Runners Notice Board. 

Only 7 completed the six races required to score the “best” points, the remainder having “zero” scores being counted. There was no change in the final positions after race 10. Alex once again dominated top spot with a final score of 333 points whilst Martin held on to second place 23 points adrift. Michael missed the last race but couldn’t have improved unless Martin hadn’t turned up; he thus secured the third spot. Lynette managed a top six position in 4th place followed by the two Peter’s, Davies and Lawton. The next two women to qualify for awards were Helen and Rachel in 10th and 18th places respectively.

 All awards will be presented at the Social Evening on the 26th November. Details below.
