Race 7, The Halesowen Hillock 10-Mile, Multi-Terrain, 8th May.
I have had no report on the race except that it was b****y hilly! So, I will
let the results speak for themselves and only comment on the GP element.
Because this race was a mult-terrain event, the percentage performances, as you
can see, are lower than normal. The reason for this is that the WMA/WAVA©
Tables give values for road race distances because there is no mathamatical formula that can be
produced to take in to account the many variations found in a multi-terrain event. The obvious
example of just one factor would be the distance of the race. This means that the percentages
achieved cannot be compared to any other races in our GP. So don’t measure your performance
against the Warwickshire Relays! However, the percentages are comparable against the other
percentages in this race, so the levels can be assessed as usual and put in order. Hope that’s
clear?
Fastest on the day was Andy Grier with a time reflecting the nature of the
course! But, not wearing the Club vest meant no points were awarded and Kevin scored the top bonus
points instead. Alex was the first M60 home in the race and our prolific prizewinner again came out
on top with the highest performance scored. Lynette, the only female running for us, picked up an
‘easy’ 12 bonus points and I believe ‘enjoyed’ the experience!!
Overall in the GP, Alex once again takes over the lead from Martin. Only the best 6 scoring races count. Martin is the only one to have done all 7 races, so he drops his Warwickshire Relay result. Alex and Lynette have both completed 6 races, everyone else has done 5 or less. This puts Alex with a 24 point lead. Ones to watch are Mike Morley, and Kevin Wakerley, both up 2 places. If they can compete in the remaining GP races, it could be an interesting finish to the competition.
