Report on the MVAC AGM 2006

At the recent AGM of the Midland Veterans A.C. a decision was made to change the name of the club to Midland Masters A.C. The Midlands is the first area group in England to recognise the term “masters” in its title. I believe Scotland and Wales have changed and the European body will change later this year. As such, the Midlands are taking the lead in this matter and I think that as the premier Club in the country we should endorse the idea.

We already have been referring to veterans as masters wherever possible and the “Veterans” button on the website has Masters in parentheses. This will soon disappear to become the “Masters” page.

Hopefully this decision will please the 35 years olds who believed that “veterans” was perhaps not the right description for them and will end the confusion as to our identity.
