Women’s Xc League Race 3 Coundon Hall Park Jan. 13th 2007

I had this thought tonight; the management (Pat) and I are doing a service to this country. We are distributing, via the tent, mud, soil and bits of doggy do all over the West Midlands. I mean we don’t know, us humans, whether bits of dirt become- well- friendly to each other, and we are increasing the gene pool,  At the end of the season we’re going to collect it all together and take it “oop” north to the national XC champs in Sunderland, it’ll be like an incredibly secret invasion; they’ll probably make a film about it some time in the future.

I digress. Armed with my new Sat Nav. Xmas pressie, I managed to get to the race venue at the first attempt; still got beaten by the Capewells, damn. I had the last laugh though because Joe Capewell locked his car keys in his boot and had to be rescued by the AA man.

We erected the aforementioned tent in a stiff breeze (gale) collecting more soil samples. Reputedly there is a water shortage, that’s because it’s all at Newbold Comyn and Coundon Hall Park!

Becky Sanders turned up in summer gear, her nose turning gently blue. Amanda Dalkins wore a very pink jacket! When the O’Mearas arrived I gave Holly her number and her Brother said “who’s got the men’s numbers” I said “they’re in another park on the other side of Coventry”. His face was a picture.

THE RACE.

As thirteen of you turned up again I can’t describe every ones race, don’t you have anything else to do on a Saturday afternoon? Shopping or something. Joking- honest

Emma Phillips was lured to compete by a pack of lies from me, but she led the team home in 8th place only 4secs. Behind international Tina Brown.

“Pinky” Dalkins was next, fresh from victory in the Staffs. County champs last week she finished 10th.

Then my old mate Cath Mijovic closed the scoring in 19th. I mean old as in “old friend” not as in “bloody ‘ell is she still running”.

In line astern came “blue nose” Becky Sanders in 23rd. Rachel Cook in 41st. Sally Latham 63rd. “Marge” Simpson in 70th... Mich Tanner 78th. Young Sarah Capewell 83rd. Miss UKA 2006 Hannah Hore in 91st... Holly “grid reference “ O’Meara finished 104th .New girl Nicola Harrison, do you know I swear she had no mud on her at all, I’ll be watching closely for her secret at the next race, finished 109th. Samara Booth, suffering from Xmas training lay off was 130th.

The team finished 3rd a big improvement, thank you all for competing, it’s a pleasure for Pat and me to be there for so many of you. If any of you would like the tent for a week or two don’t be shy to ask.

Eddie Cockayne.
